Vastly experienced and highly skilled copy-editor and proofreader adept at working across many different genres and on various types of material.
Who I Am and What I Do
I have worked as a copy-editor and proofreader since 1986. I cut my teeth with Elsevier Science in Oxford, where I worked mainly on chemistry and other ‘hard science’ academic journals.
In 1996 I was the first employee hired by the nascent medical agency REMEDICA and I worked for them for two years, firstly in Oxford and later in London. Here, I was employed as a Senior Editor, and worked primarily in the fields of radiology and cardiology.
Apart from a short in-office stint with the Scandinavian University Press in 2000, I have been freelance since 1998, working on a very wide variety of materials and across many different subject areas. My clients have included large multinationals such as Informa Group and Elsevier, as well as many smaller companies.
In 2017, I was given the opportunity to work for the crowdfunding publisher Unbound on their fiction and non-fiction lists. Subsequently, I edited or proofread almost fifty books for them. A selection of book covers illustrating some of the titles I have worked on is shown elsewhere on this website.
As a spin-off from the Unbound work, I have also edited a blend of short stories, novels and non-fiction books for a number of private clients in recent years. Today my work portfolio comprises the copy-editing and proofreading of literary books, scientific manuscripts and other types of material, and I also write medical abstracts for Framingham BV.
